🚶‍♂️My Partial ACL tear. 4 Opinions. 1 Body. Still Recovering…..
Few weeks back, I injured my knee badly.
I rushed to a hospital emergency — came back with just an X-ray, some painkillers, and a “follow-up in 5 days” note. No MRI. No mention of ligament damage. Just a surface-level check.
Something didn’t feel right. So I chose to visit a senior ortho known for his honest, non-commercial advice. He examined me, recommended physiotherapy, and told me it’s a partial ACL tear — nothing alarming. Suggested ultrasound + wax therapy. I was happy that at least I don’t have to pass through surgical procedures. But the wax therapy actually aggravated my condition.
I then consulted a sports ortho surgeon, hoping for clarity. His diagnosis?
“It’s a full tear. You need surgery.”
When I pointed out that my MRI clearly said high-grade partial tear and last Ortho Doctor too advised it was a partial tear, the answer was:
“MRI doesn’t capture right image”
Still unsure, I started searching online for patient stories and landed on a few YouTube videos from doctor-influencers offering “free MRI review.”
I uploaded mine — and soon got a call from a health-tech brand (won’t name — I respect startups).
But the call started with panic:
“Panicked me with all possible knee issues, it’ll get worse… you’re delaying surgery!”
I gently asked, “Are you a doctor, physio, or any medical expert?” Turns out — none of the above.
And that’s when it really hit me:
🛑 Where does a patient go for honest, unbiased, non-salesy medical advice anymore?
Finally, a physio recommended by a neighbour (an athlete) reviewed my case and said:
“You should’ve never done wax therapy this early. It worsened inflammation.”
✅ Today, I’m recovering — slowly, mindfully.
âś… Walking on my own, doing rehab twice a day. Way to go still…..
❌ Still unsure whom to trust when everyone has a different lens.
I’m sharing this not to complain — but to ask:
🔹 Can we create safe spaces for second opinions, without the sales pressure?
🔹 Can healthcare platforms be more responsible with the messaging they pass to scared patients?
🔹 Can we treat patients as humans first — not just leads or cases?
Let’s build a system where patients feel supported, not sold to.
